High resolution diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound performed by our physician

Ultrasound has been used in medicine for a long time especially in OB and Cardiology. Recently, advancements in ultrasound technology and the development of ‘high-definition’ ultrasound imaging has made it possible to perform diagnostic and therapeutic interventions of the musculoskeletal system. It is no surprise, that musculoskeletal ultrasound has become the finest diagnostic asset to the field of Sports Medicine since the advent of MRI. Performed in real-time at the bedside, ultrasound imaging is used as an extension of a physical exam. With the ability to scan patients in the clinic, diagnoses can be made while patients watch the ultrasound screen. This provides us the opportunity to teach patients about the injury and explain ways we can treat the findings visualized on the screen. The ability to put patients through motions during the scan also provides a dynamic component to the exam, which is not possible with MRI or other radiological studies. The musculoskeletal ultrasound is interactive and allows for the patient’s feedback during the evaluation. This reduces false-positive findings by allowing a skilled Sports Medicine physician to link the patient’s symptoms with the real-time images of the injury or damaged tissue.Enter your content.
